December Moon

"After a fall of snow
I look out on the field
Shining there in the moonlight
So calm, untouched and white
Snow silence fills my head"
- May Sarton, excerpt from
December Moon

Last night I watched the full moon rise and shine her light upon us, creating backlit cloud ripples in the sky and moonshadows on the snow. I was mesmerized by her clarity and for a few powerful moments felt a strong, peaceful belonging to something bigger than myself.

Turns out it was the
biggest, brightest full moon of 2008 - December's Full Cold Moon, sometimes also called the Moon before Yule. How timely.

What a powerful reminder of my connection to all things Nature.
